2026 Annual Report
Serving Allegheny County Neighbors with Compassion and Commitment Since 1971
A Message From Our CEO, Alicia Romano
As we reflect on the past year, I am filled with gratitude for the people that make Community Human Services (CHS) what it is. This year reminded us that meaningful change happens when people come together with a shared commitment to helping individuals and families build stronger, healthier, and more stable lives.
Along with our neighbors, we continued to face significant challenges, including rising costs, housing instability, economic uncertainty, and barriers to opportunity. In response, CHS remained focused on meeting people where they are and providing services with compassion, dignity, and respect. Across our programs, we worked to connect people with safe, affordable housing, nutritious food, and the resources they need to move toward greater stability and well-being
Significant accomplishments this year include strengthening our staff through an expanded training model and working to create a workplace where staff feel safe and included. Our employees brought dedication, empathy, and perseverance to every aspect of their work, from providing direct services to coordinating resources and supporting our organization behind the scenes.
Our community partnerships were just as essential. No single organization can address the complex needs of a community alone. By collaborating with nonprofit organizations, universities, healthcare providers, government agencies, funders, community leaders, and others, we expanded connections and opportunities for the people we serve.
As we celebrate this year's accomplishments, we recognize that our success is shared. We are grateful to our staff, volunteers, community partners, supporters, and funders for their commitment to our mission, and especially to the individuals and families who place their trust in CHS.
Looking ahead, we will continue improving our programs, investing in our employees, and responding to the evolving needs of those we serve.
