The CHS Health Station provides no cost wellness services to the community ensuring they have access to health education, wellness, preventative services, and assistance with chronic disease management.
Who We Serve:
Community members and those enrolled in CHS services.
The CHS Health Station creates a supportive atmosphere where healthcare professionals address chronic health conditions and improve overall wellness. A community-based nurse is available for one-on-one consults with interested patients and can conduct routine visits for health education, to assist with disease management techniques and to monitor symptoms.
Regular podiatry care is vital in maintaining overall health and wellness. In addition, conditions of the feet are often signs of other larger health issues. The podiatry clinic provides no cost visits to community members who have foot problems. Also, the podiatrist performs wellness visits, foot care and maintenance, and identifies foot disease and injury.
In the 1970s, community members became concerned about the lack of affordable and accessible health care in South Oakland. CHS responded by opening the Health Station in the Lawn Street community center to provide preventative medicine, wellness services, and health education.
